My Fitbit Flex works great with this app. First one is the messaging part of the app. Whatever message is at the top of the screen is basically unreadable. Second issue is the fact that I open up the app and it syncs just fine. Basically most things underneath the top circles. I literally have to close the app all the way and re open it to get everything to reflect what was already synced and updated.

It is not my phone. Messages and my own data are a hassle. Firstly I would like to say, the app works great. I hadn't used a fit bit in a year or two so I had to figure out how the new look of the app worked but it wasn't hard. I loved that my history from my old Fitbit was there because it gave me motivation to get back to how I used to be. Now the stuff I didn't like. I wish the messages would be more of a messenger style. I can't go back and look at the conversation as a whole, all I can see are messages sent to me and it's all separate so it clogs up the message list.

Would be much better to see the whole convo in one message so I can have proof of incidents like I just had. I have friended a few people from the different communities in the app. So far everyone is cool, we are all there for fitness and support. If your band does not come apart around the hard plastic; it make a good water seal with your arm—if you put it on tight. Also after I get home from the pool I take the flex out of the band and dry both. I will probably be more careful in caring for this new Flex as I did not always keep my band tight or dry the old Flex after visiting the pool.

I have a Fitbit One. I use a latex finger cot. I just slip tracker into it, tie it like a balloon. Cut off above knot, and slip it back into my case. My fitbit manual says I can wear it in the shower. In doing a bit of online research the change of heart from the company regarding wearing it in the water seems to coincide wtih the lawsuits brought on from people who got arm rash. My wife is wanting to replace it, but I am reluctant.

So here are my solutions for my FLEX: I love your water proof ideas. I have the zip. I may try one of your ideas in my water aerobics class.

I thought of trying to hook it up to the top of my strap somehow. I use a Flex for swimming. I unwrap it when I get home from the pool and dry it off. I forgot to take mine off when going for a swim in the ocean. For a couple days the display was light or not completely syncing.

Eventually it returned to normal. Not only is the waterproof pills container a great idea but you could pin it inside a dress if you are going dancing or anywhere that you are dressed up! I do a lot of mud runs, and of course I want to get credit for my steps during them. I have a Charge HR, and I wrap the center area with a paper towel, and then saranwrap, and lastly I wrap that up in electrical tape. I even dive down to the bottom of the deep end of our pool—10feet.

Heck, it sucks either way to not be able to use it for such an activity! I will use some other items to test out your theories and then let you know. Been swimming, to the beach and shower regularly with it. I purchased the Fitbit Flex in March under the assumption that when advertised at waterproof it actually was waterproof.

I wore it in the pool two to three times a week for water aerobics and have worn it in the pool daily for the last three weeks. Knock on wood, still working great!!!!! I do take it off if my hands will be in soapy water. I have a misfit shine and it is waterproof to 50m. Wear it in the shower, pool, etc. It should count swim strokes as steps! I went in the pool and hot tub with my Fitbit charge hr for 30 min, I forgot it was on and I was freaking out but then I realized it was perfectly fine and there was nothing wrong with it.

A couple of friends keep theirs in layered ziploc bags starting with the very smallest-folding them down as much as possible and use a big clip like a giant paper clip and pin it to their swimsuits near the top.

They use it for water aerobics. It registers their steps. I wrap my Fitbit in the super handiwrap that sticks to itself. I can also check the numbers as I exercise. We take showers, we go swim at the Gym, we swim when we do triathalons, we get wet when we are doing the physical activities that we enjoy doing and we want our fitness watch to be able to stay on our wrist and still count our steps, or check our heart rates after a good yard swim without having to take the watch off!!

Come on people — tell these companies how you feel, show them by not buying these products until they make them for the lifestyle they are designed to be used. I used the Fitbit brand wristbands and I always have it snug against my skin, so maybe that has something to do with it.

Thought of wrapping a stretch-resistance band around — maybe gluing it into a tube — like a swimming cap. Great at keeping the mud off your Fitbit and are waterproof for brief immersions. More info and demonstration video at Mudbandz.

If I am paying over It should just already be. After less than a year with fitbit, I think I am going back to Garmin. I appreciate what you have written. Absolute waste of time wearing one in your pocket or stashed in a swimsuit!

It may count steps decently but cals are monitored via your heart rate. Today I tried using a waterproof bandaid. Took off the wrist straps, laid the fitbit on my wrist, and slapped the bandage on.

Then put another on that for added protection. I thought I was good to go. Soon as my wrist got a few inches under the water surface, the trapped air pushed its way out the side of the bandage and wrecked the whole thing. Yes that is pretty common with any of the heart rate trackers. These solutions are more to make sure you get steps counted but I totally see your point. They have a proprietary process of opening the tracker and waterproofing the internal components.

They offer waterproofed fitbits but they also have a service where you send them your existing tracker and they waterproof that. For a fee, but still cheaper than buying an Ionic and if you really like the Alta.
